Questions on some kids stuff

I always thought fairy tales were gruesome and then p.c. got in and cleaned them up.

Grimm fairy tales were particularly nasty.  Eyes poked out, toes severed and the like.

They were out to scare the kids, go too far from the house in the forest and the wolves will take you.

But there is usually a story behind some of them.

Take Little Red Riding Hood.  Why is she wearing red in the forest?  She is a target walking in a red hoodie.  Yes, she is going to grandmother’s house but why is the grandma so far away.  The grandmother was eaten by the wolf and then he dressed up like her to seduce the girl.  Why would an animal wear grandma’s clothes?  Cross dressing with animals.  Now that is strange.

Three men in a tub: (1)
Rub-a-dub-dub,
Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they were?
The butcher, the baker,
The candlestick-maker,
They all sailed out to sea,
T’aws enough to make a man stare.

I wonder who was staring.  Why these three in a tub together?  Was it kinky?  And why the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker?  Were they relatives or just friends. And why go out to sea none of them are seamen?  Did they return or were they lost in a storm?
